A documentary about the people
who believe in the power of food
to change society.

Nourishing Japan is a documentary film highlighting the roles that Japanese citizens take in the success and implementation of the Japanese school lunch system and food education initiatives.

This film shares with viewers the dedication, labor, and skill put in by members of society- whether it be through providing healthy and nutritious meals to school-age children, or teaching about the human's relationship with nature, the food system, their local community, and the world. Speaking with teachers, nutritionists, food education experts, and more - this film will tell the story from field to lunch tray.

“… A compelling tale of how the Japanese school lunch program is a key source of nourishing community, not just nourishing meals…an intimate view of the program inspires us to re-imagine our relationships to food, the environment, and each other.”
